Richard F. (Dick) Baker, Jr
Richard F. (Dick) Baker, Jr. became the first full-time Executive Director for the Healthcare Foundation of Cleveland County in May of 2015. Prior to coming to Cleveland County, he served as Executive Director for the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Foundation within the Asheville, NC based Mission Health System. Dick brings to his position over 30 years of experience in non-profit organization management, marketing and community relations on the local and national levels.
Nationally, his experience included serving as the first Executive Director for the Dale Earnhardt Foundation and Executive Director of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Foundation, both having a mission focused on youth and education. On the regional level, he led a non-profit foundation supporting public education within North Carolina’s sixth largest school district.
Prior to his foundation leadership, Dick spent a dozen years with the PGA TOUR as a tournament director overseeing several professional golf tournaments in the Carolinas for both the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour. He is also a former chamber of commerce and economic development executive.
Mr. Baker is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Georgia and holds professional certifications in fund raising management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University and non-profit management from Duke University.
He and his wife (Katie) have one married son (Trey) who is a graduate of NC State working in the field of clinical trial medical research in the Raleigh area. In his spare time, Dick enjoys golf, travel, hiking, woodworking and wood turning. He is a veteran of the US Air Force and the Air National Guard.
Rebecca S. (Becky) Wall is a Cleveland County native and has been employed by Carolinas HealthCare System Cleveland for 10 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Foundation and Vice Presidents. She is a graduate of Crest High School in Shelby. Over the years she has worked in various roles in physicians’ offices and at Shelby High School.
She and her husband (John) have four married daughters, Kellie Lanier, Sally Poynter, Casey Southards, and Mary Crotts (the latter three are triplets). In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, her four grandchildren, traveling to the coast, and watching or attending football games.
